The health and safety of all our clients and coaches is our number one priority.
So let’s understand what we dealing with.
The Coronavirus spreads person-to-person via respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, or sneezes. These droplets land on surfaces, and the disease is spread when a person touches an infected surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.
We know that the coronavirus is not found in sweat. Heavy breathing during exercise won’t spread the virus either.
Evidence suggests the virus can live on surfaces for several hours to a several days, depending on factors like the type of surface and temperature. The droplets can also be inhaled, which is why it is recommended staying at least one meter away from persons who are sick or coughing. This is similar to how influenza and common colds are spread.
What actions is the Engine Room taking to keep our clients safe and well?
We are in a very fortunate situation in the way our gym is designed.
With each client training in their own personal workout station we can place additional measures in place to ensure a fully sanitised area before and after every workout.
The barbell, bench, water bottle holder and full training rig will be fully sanitised before a client trains at their station.
Directly after the client has trained at their station a red cone will be placed on the bench. This is to indicate that the station has not been sanitised as yet.
As soon as the station has been cleaned the cone will be removed and we’ll be ready for action.
We will need take a different approach to other training apparatus in the gym that is touched frequently.
Clients are asked to leave their used weight plates, medicine balls, exercise matts, abb rollers and dumbbells at their station. Don’t pack them away.
We will only pack them away only once cleaned and sanitised. This step will ensure that all the equipment in the centre of the gym is ready to use.
In addition every training station will have it’s own hand sanitising station to allow clients to intermediately self-clean.
We will keep you updated with regard to any confirmed cases amongst our clientele. Currently there are non. Any further updates will be provided here.
We will be limiting contact with clients. No more handshaking. Fist pumps all-round if need be.
What actions can you take in the gym to keep yourself, our coaches and other clients safe?
If you are sick, stay at home.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and dispose of the tissue in the bin after use.
Keep your hands off your face. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth when working out at the gym.
Regularly clean your hands at your hand sanitising station at your training rig.
With these measures in place we are extremely confident that you will not find a safer, more hygienic gym to train at.
See you in the gym.
